Week 1: Bettering my breathing and walking

My focus here is to do little things that contribute to improve my life. I am not competing with anyone; I want to be better than I was yesterday.

Weighing 300 pounds now, I struggle to breathe if I walk too far or even empty my trash cans in my apartment. I live in a one-bedroom apartment, so there aren’t that many, nor do I have to walk far.

I am doing this now because of healing from what upset and scared me. I am healing nicely and don’t face as many obstacles as I have in the past. If you would like to know how I did that, please read: This is How Gratitude, Self-Awareness, and Acceptance Saved My Life.

So, since this past Monday, April the 12th, I have been doing simple breathing exercises to resolve that problem. I started by breathing in and holding my breath to see how long I can go. When I started, I could barely reach 5 seconds. I also would walk from one end of my apartment to the other. This made my legs hurt, so I would stop and just try again a few days later. I included doing simple physical therapy exercises to better my legs and knees, both of which bother me because of my sedentary lifestyle.

 Now, I can reach 10 seconds, plus when I walk, the pain is less. For this week, I will continue to work on that, plus I will do more walking and add more physical therapy exercises.
